Introduction and Release
Amazing Rares are types of Pokemon card that were first released in the Sword & Shield era in the Set Vivid Voltage. A total of nine amazing rares were manufactured, and they exist only in the sets Vivid Voltage and Shining Fates. These cards show Legendary or Mythical Pokémon and have some rather unique, eye-catching artwork.
Visual Features and Identification
They are identified by their holographic pattern that is rainbow throughout the entire card, spreading even over the picture of the Pokémon. Amazing Rares take the rainbow effect to the next level, as they extend beyond the standard image border to give it a flowing, living dimension. The Amazing Rare rarity typically has the card number followed by a rainbow A to reflect the rarity.
Rarity Level and Gameplay
The Amazing Rares fit into a rarity level between standard holofoil cards and ultra-rare cards (Full Art or Secret Rare ones). These cards all have an 'Amazing' move in them, which is considered very strong and formidable, but all cost the price of being respective to different types of energy, which makes its energy setup incredibly difficult. The energy symbols for Amazing Rares are also really striking; they have their own holo effect that works in tandem with the rest of the card and feels special.
