What are Pokémon LEGEND Cards

  • Unique two-piece cards featuring powerful Legendary Pokémon, often depicting two Legendary Pokémon together.
  • Distinctive horizontal orientation with artwork spanning across both cards when placed side by side.
  • Extremely powerful abilities and attacks, balanced by the requirement to have both halves in play.
  • Pull rates of LEGEND cards are approximately 1 out of 36 packs (about 2.8%) for a single half.

Introduction and Design

Pokémon LEGEND cards made their debut during the HeartGold & SoulSilver (HGSS) series. They were a new card type when the set hit store shelves on February 10, 2010 in the set HeartGold & SoulSilver. They are a supercollectible type of card, categorized as special cards. LEGEND cards are also very easy to make out, lying horizontally and in two parts, the picture extending to the two cards if placed side by side.

Gameplay Mechanics

Both halves of a LEGEND card have to be in play for gameplay – once again, an added challenge that increases the reward for both deck construction and strategy. Generally, these cards have fundamentally strong abilities or attacks, which traded off with how difficult it could be to get both halves on the field. Their most unique feature is the artwork, often depicting epic scenes or battles with Legendary Pokémon themselves.

Rarity and Availability

They are considered to be of the highest rarity in their respective sets, with each half being harder to pull than an ultra-rare card. LEGEND cards were included in the following four HGSS series sets: HeartGold and SoulSilver, Unleashed, Undaunted, and Triumphant.

Ho-oh LEGEND and Lugia LEGEND from the set HeartGold & SoulSilver

Entie & Raikou LEGEND, Raikou & Suicune LEGEND and Suicune & Entei LEGEND from the set Unleashed
